Introduction

Wealthnow is institutional financial data for applications and AI agents. One wn_ key and one credit wallet open 353 REST endpoints across 21 data products, and every endpoint except the real-time streams is also a tool on the MCP server, so Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex can call it directly.

The catalogue reaches well past prices and statements into data that desks normally get through a terminal contract: corporate bond prints and CDS spreads, a 10.6M-company private-markets graph with fund returns, an options-chain history we capture ourselves every trading day, point-in-time fundamentals, institutional and insider flows, and 41.9M corporate events back to 1990. Calls cost flat credits by product (most 1 to 6; the social sentiment search 2,500), failed calls are never charged, and every response says how fresh its data is.

Get started

Two ways in

Both surfaces take the same key, bill the same wallet and apply the same plan. There is no agent and no Copilot: you call the data and analytics yourself.

SurfaceEndpointUse it whenBilling
FIRM data APIhttps://firm.wealthnow.ioYou call REST endpoints and work with the JSON yourselfFlat credits per call, set by the product
MCP serverhttps://mcp.wealthnow.io/mcpAn AI client calls the same routes as toolsThe same credits as the route behind each tool

A first call is one request. The price snapshot is on every plan, Free included, and costs 1 credit:

Shell
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $WEALTHNOW_API_KEY" \  "https://firm.wealthnow.io/api/v3/fundamentals/price_snapshot?ticker=AAPL"

Concepts

API keys

A wn_ key is a bearer token, issued when you sign up, and it works on both surfaces. Send it as Authorization: Bearer wn_…; the FIRM data API and the MCP server also accept it in X-API-Key. A workspace can hold several keys that share one wallet. Create, rotate, limit and revoke them under Developers → API Keys (see Manage your keys), and keep them out of client-side code, like a password.

Credits

Your plan puts a monthly credit grant in one wallet that every surface draws from.

  • A FIRM call costs a flat number of credits set by its product (see Products): 1 to 6 for most, and 2,500 for the social sentiment search, which runs a live grounded search on every call. One more exception: a stream costs 3 credits per connection, not per message (Streaming).
  • Failed requests are free. No non-2xx response is charged: 401, 402, 403, 404, 422, 429, 500, 502, 503 and 504 all cost nothing. A request that fails after its credits were reserved is refunded.
  • The grant refills every billing period, and you can also top up. Paid plans can run into metered overage up to a ceiling; Free stops at its grant.

Each plan includes every product of the cheaper plans. On Starter you can add a premium product instead of upgrading: Private Markets ($299/mo, or Private Markets Pro at $799/mo for 4× the credits) or Options Flow ($79/mo). An add-on is not sold for a product your plan already includes. Pricing & credits has the overage rates, ceilings and annual prices.

Responses and errors

A FIRM response is a JSON envelope around the endpoint's own fields. Abridged from a live price snapshot:

JSON
{  "ok": true,  "timestamp": "...",  "ticker": "AAPL",  "snapshot": { "price": 339.84, "as_of": "2026-09-22T23:59:11Z", "is_stale": false }}

An error inverts it, and is never billed:

{ "ok": false, "error": "plan_required", "detail": "...", "request_id": "..." }

Read the code from error and the message from detail, which is a string, not an object. Some route-level 503 responses carry status and reason instead. Errors walks through the envelope, and the production client parses every shape.

Important:

Plan access unlocks a product's routes, not data for every request. Check observation times, coverage and availability fields before you use a result.

  • When a paid route marks its own result unavailable (ok: false or available: false), you get a 503 rather than an estimate, and it is not billed.
  • A 200 is billed even when it holds no data: an empty list, a null value, found: false, or a warning or note.
  • Some routes report a problem in an error field of a 200: the trading-plan and technical-analysis skills when price history is too short, and page reading when a page is blocked or cannot be fetched.
  • Quant intervals, and the Kelly size derived from them, are withheld when their evidence is insufficient.

Credits are per successful call (streams bill per connection). A product is included on its first plan and on every more expensive plan.
